Sonali Bendre has not given up on her love for films

She might have moved from the big screen to the smaller one. But it seems actress Sonali Bendre has not given up on her love for films. Shooting non-stop for her reality show, Sonali admits that the small screen is no less tedious than the film medium.

Speaking about her stint with TV Sonali says, "I find TV equally time consuming. Though I have not given up on films, I am still waiting for the right script to come my way."

Sonali is shooting for the reality show INDIA"S GOT TALENT along with Shekhar Kapoor and Kirron Kher.

Throwing more light about her plans to come back to films, the actress adds, "Films will always remain my first passion. In am too tied with my TV schedule at the moment but I would love to make a comeback to films soon."

Well, let’s hope the actress realizes her dream soon.

I’m too lazy to step out of my comfort zone-Sonali Bendre

The actress Sonali Bendre will be back in our homes with the fourth season of Indian Idol.
Reality television is not new to Sonali. She was earlier seen in Kya Masti Kya Dhoom and Mr and Mrs. Sonali will be judging Indian Idol, along with Anu Malek, Javed Akhtar and Kailash Kher. As the hit singing show premieres tonight, Sonali chats with Patcy N.

How did you bag Indian Idol?

When I judged Mr and Mrs for Sony Entertainment Television, it was like a dry run. I enjoyed my experience of working with them. So when they approached me for Indian Idol, I decided to do it. Also, the people in [production house] Miditech know my sister very well, so there was a comfort level. I’m too lazy to step out of my comfort zone.

Did you travel extensively for the Indian Idol auditions?

I went to most parts of India. But I did not go to London, as my child is only three years old. I was apprehensive of leaving him behind. But I went to Dubai, as it was a shorter flight.

It wouldn’t be difficult to recollect the pretty face of the long lost actress- Sonali Bendre. Bidding goodbye to films after marriage with Goldie Behl, the gorgeous damsel just vanished from the silver screen. The news is that the actress would be seen again on camera after cameo in Kal Ho Naa Ho.

But, there’s a twist in the tale. This time the actress would be wearing a judge’s hat in the most popular reality show on television- Indian Idol 4. It also seems like the actress is making special preparations for her appearance on the small screen, like making her hair a little, or to be more precise, very short. What more? She’s looking as gorgeous as always.The other names on the judges’ seats are Anu Mallik and Javed Akhtar as usual.

Indian Idol is a show like no other we are going to show the roller coaster ride

IKLAN Kailash Kher and Sonali Bendre join Javed Akhtar and Annu Malek for season 4. Indian Idol’s new season will replace Salman-starring Dus Ka Dum from September 19. Rustic singer Kailash Kher will be the new judge on the show, adding to last season’s Javed Akhtar and Annu Malek. Also judging, and adding oomph to an all-male judging desk will be Sonali Bendre.



So what else is going to change on Indian Idol? Nothing, says producer Niret Alva: "There is no need to be different because this format’s already popular. It has unpredictability built in. We go to many cities, and even go abroad."

Niret thought anchors Deepali Kishore and Mayang Chang were "fresh and absolutely fantastic" to which the "interesting combination of judges" would add chemistry. The show was the first reality singing show and threw up Abhijit Sawant in its first season.

However, with such shows coming up on every network, the interest in any one show has declined over time.Niret said that this reality didn’t affect his show. "Indian Idol is a show like no other we are going to show the roller coaster ride of the contestants."

The show will begin with the hordes coming down for auditions and the fun the judges will have in rejecting them. Later, the serious singing will begin with a shorter list of 30.

America Idol is one of the most popular shows in the US and has the ability to create instant celebrities (such as the Indian-American Sanjay Malakar). The show will air on Sony Friday and Saturday at 9 pm.
