Do you remember ‘Dhamaal’, one of the biggest Box Office comedy capers of the year 2007, which starred Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chowdhary and Javed Jaffery?

Well, news has it that the sequel to ‘Dhamaal’ is no longer an all boys affair, for ‘Dhamaal 2’ includes two actresses.

Early this year, when director Indra Kumar and producer Ashok Thakeria announced the sequel to ‘Dhamaal’, it was declared that ‘Dhamaal 2’ wouldn’t have any female stars. However, just three months before ‘Dhamaal 2’ hits the floor, the filmmakers have changed their mind and have added two actresses.

Talking to a news daily, producer Ashok Thakeria said, “We’d never made a policy decision not to have girls in ‘Dhamaal.’ It just so happened that the film had no women characters. For the sequel too, we initially thought we would carry forward the same trend. However, as the script developed, there was room for the girls too. So we have added roles for two heroines.”

It is believed that Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi were keen to have females in the film. Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy might be the female leads in ‘Dhamaal 2.’

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh feels the richer content of Marathi films enables them score over Hindi movies.

"Just watched two Marathi movies back to back - both of them were very good. `Jogwa` is simply outstanding, Rajeev Patil (director) is simply superb. Upendra Limaye and Mukta Barve, the lead actors are unbelievable," Riteish posted on his Twitter page.

"Marathi films with much lesser budgets are richer in content than Hindi films. Maybe the regional audiences are more receptive towards bolder subjects," he added.

Riteish has earned a name for himself in the Hindi film industry with projects like `Bluffmaster`, `Heyy Babby`, `Do Knot Disturb` and `Rann` among others.

He is yet to do a Marathi project.

We all know that Ritesh Deshmukh’s wishes were granted by genie Amitabh Bachchan in “Aladdin’, though the movie didn’t work wonders at the box-office. Now if sources are to be believed, Ritesh was seen stepping into the shoes of Big B as genie while promoting his forthcoming Sajid Khan directed “Housefull’.

The source reveals, “While doing the photo shoot for promotion purpose, Ritesh was seen playing genie and was asking everyone to make a wish. Present on the shoot were director Sajid Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh and gorgeous Lara Dutta. All three were seen having a gala time.”

Wonder, if Akshay Kumar was present there; what wish would he make? Considering the confidence of Sajid in one of the recent interviews to a web-portal, it doesn’t seem Akshay needs any genie. What say Sajid?

Riteish Deshmukh actually living in his character in Rann

rann-2

The Rann fever seems to have spread seriously. As the film is waiting for its release on 29th Jan, the media is just behind the latest update of this media-centric film.

While actors go extend to get into the skin of their characters, Riteish Deshmukh is said to have gone step ahead by actually living in his character in Rann. In this Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial Riteish plays investigative journalist, a role that is quite different from the ones he has played so far.

The reel life character in fact has inspired the actor a lot in real life as well. “When during the film promotion, I actually went and did the job of an investigative journalist,” said Riteish, “It wasn’t easy to get to places where the actual events happened, to persuade people to shoot at locations that mattered. It was a different experience.”

Talking further about his role, he said, “The character I portray is of a person who is all that a journalist should be. He is a common man who wants to make a difference.”

While Riteish is glad to have done the role of journo, he seems to be thirsty for more. And he is ruminating over the idea of playing one in reality. “There are so many issues that run on my mind. Child abuse is one such issue. I want us to be more aware, more responsible and if I am an investigative journalist, this is one issue that I will tackle for sure,” revealed the actor.

Looks like a reporter is born… Yeh Rann ka asar hai!

Riteish Deshmukh has paired up with Govinda for the first time

IKLAN

riteishRiteish Deshmukh has paired up with Govinda for the first time in David Dhawan directed DO KNOT DISTURB. Naturally, it was a humbling moment for him to be sharing screen space with the veteran actor who has been regaling the audience for more than a couple of decades. Recently it was Tusshar Kapoor who appeared with Govinda in box office success LIFE PARTNER and a few weeks down the line, it is Riteish sharing a love-hate relationship with Govinda.

Considering the fact that both Riteish and Govinda are known for their amazing comic timing, how did the two compliment each other?

"Well, I guess the timing factor has worked quite well in DO KNOT DISTURB as well. I have done everything in the best of my capacity though I do hope that in years down the line, I do manage to match the kind of high standards that Govindaji has set for himself", says Riteish who has time and again excelled in comic roles.

"Even though I have grown and proved myself with every film of mine, I hope that I have reached the level good enough to be facing the camera with Govindaji. After all with him around you have to be constantly on your toes and DO KNOT DISTURB was no different. You need to have split second reactions with him around and catch the cues fast enough so that momentum isn’t lost in the scene", Riteish says in awe.

His six years experience of being a part of Bollywood did help though.

"This is what made it a relaxed atmosphere for me to be on the sets with people like Davidji (Dhawan) and Govindaji", adds Riteish, "It took me 6 long years to get to a stage where I could work in a film with them. It’s fine, after all every film has the right timing and DO KNOT DISTURB came to me at just the right time."
