The premiere of Sanjay Chel’s comedy ‘Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam’ was held in Mumbai admidst much glamour and glitter.

Paresh Rawal is playing the character of Emperor Akbar in the film. The story of the film revolves around a drama troupe - Kalakar Natak Company that aims to produce socially relevant, thought provoking plays, but the irony is that nobody understands it. Music director Anu Malik has composed the music for the film.

“It’s a different film. Risk is also there in the sense that in my career I am not such a big personality, whom hits and flops can affect. I believe I am very small past of the industry and the most important thing is that when I see myself I shouldn’t feel I could have done better,” said Rahul Bose, the lead actor of the film.

Rahul to hold a cold face while the kid cries

Rahul Khanna has always disliked working with kids and animals as he believes that they are difficult to deal with on the sets. Rahul reluctantly agreed to ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan’s directorial venture - TAHAAN which required him to shoot with a kid and a donkey.

But his whole perception about working with kids and animals changed while shooting on the sets. He reveals that he was totally impressed with the kid who was so natural while acting. A scene required Rahul to hold a cold face while the kid cries. The kid enacted it so well that the entire crew was in tears and Rahul had to hold back his tears.

And about the donkey he exclaims that he has not seen an animal as beautiful as the donkey.

He thinks he was more expressive than the kids and very well behaved and disciplined. When you tell the donkey something he really understands. And working with the animal has really changed his views about the species which otherwise are believed to be dumb.

The third day of OSIAN film festival saw Nandita Das, Mahesh Manjreakar and Rahul Bose amongst a host of other luminaries. Talking about their latest projects, the stars seemed to be having a great time interacting with the media and audience.

Promoting her first directorial debut, Firaq, Nandita spoke at length about the film based on communal violence. Being a critically acclaimed actress herself, dealing with a host of other accomplished actors, directing them into performing according to her whims, did she feel creative differences creeping in? She smiles, “Their suggestions did pour in. While I took some, there were times when I would just say, ‘Excuse me, I am the director and the final call is going to be mine’.” About the film, she says, “It’s an ensemble film with multiples stories. It deals with the post riot state.”

Rahul Bose had two forthcoming films to talk about. With Whispers and Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam, on the anvil, the star had a lot of promotions to do. Commenting on his chemistry with Mallika Sherawat, he said. “I think chemistry is a fluke. At all point of time, it is a fluke. There are actors who are crap on camera, who otherwise gel very well and vice versa.”

Another actor-cum-filmmaker who made a public appearance after quite some time was Mahesh Manjrekar. Ready with a dark comedy titled, Meerabai Not Out, Mahesh says, “The film is about how the protagonist feels neglected and has a very troubled past.” Another surprise element present at the film festival was Chetan Bhagat, the novelist known for his bestsellers. Promoting the film titled Hello, he was there along with its crew. The film is based on Bhagat’s novel, One Night At A Call Centre. All in all, it was a power-packed day three of the OSIAN film festival.
