Michael Jackson's brain turned to his family for further testing!

Pop legend Michael Jackson’s brain has been returned to his family after it was removed last month for further testing.

Testing is now complete and the organ has been released to Michael’s family, who have been waiting for the brain to be returned before they proceed with the burial of the star, who died after a suspected cardiac arrest in June, reports contactmusic.com.

The singer’s family have decided to bury Michael in an unmarked grave to prevent people decorating his grave or attempting to steal his body.

’They are afraid someone is going to do something terrible to his body. That is not a risk they can take so they are burying him in an unmarked plot,’ said a family friend.

The burial is not expected to include a formal ceremony and fans will be kept away.

After venturing into drama, dark serious cinema and comedy with ‘Fashion’, ‘Jail’ and ‘All the Best’ respectively, Mugdha seems to be exploring new avenues with every film!

The latest entrant in the list happens to be the genre of horror! The lady is all set to scare the audiences in a horror flick produced by Sanjay Ahluwalia and Rajeev Virani of Rupali Om Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

The film is to be directed by Rajeev Virani, a first time director and Mugdha is cast opposite the suave and dashing Bobby Deol. Ram Gopal Varma's AGYAAT has a Madhubala connection

IKLAN

http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/seeucom/actress9/ram_gopal_varmas_madhuba.jpg

Believe it or not but Ram Gopal Varma’s AGYAAT has a Madhubala connection to it. No, the film has nothing to do with Madhubala’s 1949 classic MAHAL, a suspense drama where she had played a memorable role. Instead it is related to a person who has a blood relation with the beauty queen!

Ok, so let’s reveal the suspense now. The person is question is Imran who is Madhubala’s nephew and has composed the music of the film along with Vikram.

Says a source attached to the film, "That’s true; Imran is Madhubala’s nephew and though she was an epitome of beauty and made her presence felt in front of the camera, Imran is happy doing it in the studio rooms. He got a big opportunity in the form of AGYAAT and along with Vikram went all out to make sure that Ram Gopal Varma got what he wanted for the film."

The composer duo has debuted in AGYAAT which, as per Ram Gopal Varma, is an adventure thriller. New age composers, they have assisted Pritam in films like DHOOM 2, JAB WE MET, CHOCOLATE and just released LOVE AAJ KAL. Incidentally Sachin & Jigar, the composer duo of TEREE SANG (the music of which is excellent) have also assisted Pritam in the past and have gone independent very recently. Another coincidence is the fact that both AGYAAT and TEREE SANG are releasing on the same day i.e. 7th August.

In AGYAAT, Imraan and KAMAAL have come up with a bunch of peppy tracks. Their item/promotional songs like ’Kiss U Day And Night’ and ’Jai Shiv Bum Shambu’ are already getting popular with every passing day. Now it has to be seen how far does the film go and hence take the music along to allow Imraan-Vikram a long and promising innings in Bollywood.

With a series of acclaimed films to his name, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is ready to mark his directorial debut in Hollywood with his ambitious project Broken Horses and his hunt for the lead actor is finally over.

The filmmaker has signed on this year’s Golden Globe Best Actor winner and Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler) for this film.

Chopra also revealed that he had seen a special screening of Rourke’s The Wrestler before the awards fever began. "I was bowled over by his performance. Both of us had an instant connect when we met in Los Angeles.

He was my first choice and was finalized even before he won the Golden Globe; it’s great to have him on board for one of the key roles in the film. Mickey deserves all the acclaim he is getting and I hope he wins the Oscar as well," said the maverick director.

Broken Horses, belonging to the gangster genre with a screenplay based on an original story by Chopra himself, is the work of award-winning writer Abhijat Joshi (Lage Raho Munnabhai, Eklavya ) and script consultant Jason Richman (Bangkok Dangerous, Swing Vote). Mark Johnson (Chronicles of Narnia, The Notebook and Rain Man) is the executive producer of the film, while Chris Buchinsky (Hancock, Spiderman 2) is the story- board artist. The film is expected to be shot across New Mexico, New York and Albuquerque. ’

Innocent Shreyas decided to obey his fan by giving an autograph

IKLAN

Shreyas Talpade

Much has been talked about Kismat Konnection and its connection with pranky Shahid and his prey on his co-stars. We are little bored of the matter now. But how can we be bored with stars and their whimsical pranks! And this time we are back with some massaledar chat from the spots of Shyam Benagal’s Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur where Mr. veteran is busy canning comic frames of his actors, Shreyas Talpade, Divya Dutta, Ravi Kishan and Amrita Rao.

Though the film happens to be a comic one but the shooting schedules are as usual very blank and mundane without some salty touch of pranks. Thus, Divya Dutta, known to play pranks on her fellow actors, made Shreyas her recent victim.

The story goes like, Divya came out with a naughty plan of calling up Shreyas in his hotel room pretending to be his fan. The actress made good use of her mimicry talent and called up Shreyas in a male’s voice asking him to meet her in the lobby. Divya even threatened Shreyas that if he doesn’t come down, he would come up only to make a scene.

Innocent Shreyas decided to obey his fan by giving an autograph. But when he reached the lobby he couldn’t find anyone. What he got is another call from Divya, in a male’s voice, now requesting him to meet at some other location in the hotel. But again Shreyas found no one at that location. His phone rang again. On the third call the actor got irritated and told Divya that he is seated in the hotel’s coffee shop and better he (she) come there and get the autograph.

While Shreyas was enjoying his coffee, Divya came from behind and called for him again in the same male’s voice. Shreyas turned and was shocked to find Divya in front of his eyes. Shreyas took the prank sportingly and both had a hearty laugh. Latter the unit members came to know about the incident and they started teasing Shreyas asking for his autograph.

As the Shahid-Vidya starrer Kismat Konnection and its much airy scrappy prank stories made an invisibly clear bondage between the stars, here also we can expect something like that. But, Shreyas, you are married. So, better be a Mahadev but never try to be sajjan yaar!

Life has become even more beautiful, post AAMIR.

IKLAN

Rajeev_khandelwal

He’s arrived without the backing of a godfather, but is being considered for some prized projects. AAMIR hero Rajeev Khandelwal is here to stay in Bollywood. “Life has become even more beautiful, post AAMIR. The feedback has been great, the response is tremendous. I’ve had people like Pritish Nandy, Apoorva Lakhia, Paresh Rawal, so many bigwigs from within the industry complimenting me.
I’ve dabbled in a different medium before [TV] and I wasn’t sure how people from filmdom would react, but they’ve been so warm and generous in their praises. I’ve realized that eventually kaam bolta hain,” the soft-spoken Rajeev Khandelwal is all smiles.

What next? Has he signed any film, post AAMIR? “Just one - PETER GAYA KAAM SE. The offers haven’t stopped since AAMIR released. In fact, I’m off to Ladakh tomorrow [Wednesday] for a vacation and am taking along 7-8 scripts to read. There’re times when you’re tempted to sign a film when you’re offered big money. But my fundas are clear - first script, then money. I’m in no hurry to grab any and every film that comes my way,” he reveals his game plan.

Rajeev, that’s the right way to go about it, if you’re looking at playing a long innings here!

Apoorva Lakhia has zeroed in on the cast for the film that will launch the duo from Ekta’s Kapoor’s reality show Kissko Milega Ticket To Bollywood. “It will have Sanjay Dutt, Tusshar Kapoor and Zayed Khan, besides the two newcomers from the reality show,” informs Apu.

No Abhishek this time? “Not in this one. I need to work with actors I haven’t worked with before. Tusshar couldn’t do my Mission Istaanbul. So I’d want to work with him this time even if this wasn’t his home production. Zayed is someone I’ve watched evolve as an actor during Mission Istaanbul. I’d like to take him forward.”

However, Apoorva shocks by confessing, “Though I’d like to feature him in all my films just this once I’m going let Abhishek go. And with good reason. Because in the second-half of 2009, I’m doing a film with Abhishek as the solo hero for producer Vashu Bhagnani.”

Apparently, it’s good-pal Abhishek who got Lakhia the Vashu Bhagnani project. “That’s right,” concedes Lakhia. “When Vashuji asked Abhishek to do a film for him, Abhishek suggested that I direct it.”

At the moment Apoorva isn’t too willing to divulge details of the Bhagnani project. But according to Bhagnani it will be a “full-on masti film”. The last time Abhishek did a film Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya for me it didn’t work. This time I want to make sure the audiences go home with a smile on their face.”

Arshad Warsi is all geared up for his first home production which is go on floors in London in July. The film to be directed by Kabeer Kaushik is titled ‘I Believe In Angels…’

Arshad had a tough time finding the leading lady for his film coz all the big heroines were apprehensive of being paired with Arshad in the lead role. Arshad, no doubt, is a very talented actor, but he has not been able to make it big with lead roles. Finally, the chase ended with Dia Mirza who not only suits the role but was also too glad to be a part of it.

Talking about the film, Dia said,

“First of all, I’ve always enjoyed Arshad’s performances and it’s an honor to be in a film to be produced by him. Then when I heard the script I simply fell in love with my role and the script. Every character is so beautifully written, I’m sure Arshad’s first production is going to turn out to be very special.”

Dia plays a very sweet angelic character in the film and says,

“I’ve that image. And I suit it. Though I’m not bound by the sweet image I don’t mind being perceived as ideal for angelic roles at a time when every second girl enjoys playing the wicked one.”

After going through a whole roster of could-be leading ladies from Konkona Sen to Urvashi Sharma (who was almost finalized), Arshad Warsi has finally found a leading lady for his first home production tentatively titled I Believe In Angels …just weeks before the film is scheduled to go on the floors in London in July.

Though Arshad is tight-lipped about his heroine crisis getting the right girl for his first film to be directed by Kabeer Kaushik has not been easy.

Says a source, “All the girls who were Arshad’s pals turned him down. Arshad is in a peculiar place right now. He’s seen as a natural scene-stealer but not leading-man material. The big heroines are wary of being paired with him. Lara Dutta said no to Shortkut, though it was an Anil Kapoor Production, when she head Arshad was one of the leading men.”

Dia gladly said Yes. “First of all, I’ve always enjoyed Arshad’s performances and it’s an honour to be in a film to be produced by him. Then when I heard the script I simply fell in love with my role and the script. Every character is so beautifully written, I’m sure Arshad’s first production is going to turn out to be very special.”

Mundra said Bollywood companies began the bid to buy into Hollywood cinemas and distribution networks after Indian films failed to get a wide showing in the West.

IKLAN

With India’s entertainment billionaires seemingly blessed with limitless pockets, Bollywood is flexing its movie muscle, taking on Hollywood in unexpected corners of the globe and buying up theatres worldwide.

"Bollywood now has the muscle and (Indian) corporates have big money," prominent Indian filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra told AFP.

Mundra said Bollywood companies began the bid to buy into Hollywood cinemas and distribution networks after Indian films failed to get a wide showing in the West.

The slew of major entertainment deals announced this week at Cannes, the world’s biggest film market, underlined Indian cinema expansionism.

Reliance BIG Entertainment, for example, the entertainment branch of India’s mighty Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (ADA) Group, unveiled plans to spend one billion US dollars by the end of 2009.

ADA plans to use the cash to produce a slate of films in nine languages while ensuring the movies make it onto cinema screens outside India as well as on home video, online digital platforms, and television through the Internet (IPTV).

The group has already acquired 250 screens in the United States and made theatre acquisitions in Malaysia, Nepal and elsewhere.

"We believe it is the right time to make this move...(India) is the world’s fourth largest economy and growing very fast, and we’re the biggest filmmaking country," Reliance chairman Amit Khanna told the media.

Meanwhile, Indian films were reported to be selling briskly in the Cannes marketplace, which gathers some 10,000 industry types.

"Indian films are starting to spread around the world", said Alice Coelho of Eros International.

Outside of Britain, Germany is Eros’s biggest market for Bollywood films. But there is also much demand for the movies in Russia, the market in the Netherlands is opening up, and Poland is currently India’s hottest upcoming scene, Coelho told AFP.

On the sales front, traditional romantic Indian melodrama as well as newer-wave comedies and edgy arthouse are selling well -- sometimes to the most unexpected markets.

In Germany, Eros’ new political thriller "Sarkar Raj", featuring Bollywood star and former Miss World, Ashwarya Rai, playing alongside her celebrity actor husband Abhishek Bachchan, generated huge unexpected market interest at the recent Berlin film festival.

Ashok Amritraj, who heads up Los-Angeles-based production powerhouse, Hyde Park International, says it is Indian skill in turning out films that entertain that is behind their success.

"We’re going for great entertainment," he said.

Many of the movies up for release soon, however, are time zones away from run-of-the-mill the Bollywood formula of good versus bad plus song and dance.

The trend some years ago to "cross-over" movies such as "Bride and Prejudice", aimed at winning over Indian expats and foreign audiences, failed to make a big splash and dried up.

Yet many of the latest "new wave" Indian movies aimed at international and domestic movie-buffs still have a feel of crossing Indian and non-Indian cultures.

Jag Mundra’s latest film, "Shoot on Sight", is a suspense drama based loosely around the recent terrorist attacks in London with many of the lead roles played by British actors, including Brian Cox and Sadie Fox.

And "The Other End of the Line", a light, romantic comedy that was the first collaboration between Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment group and Hollywood giant MGM, is to be released later this year.

While India’s cinema top execs might again be bemoaning the country’s failure to get a movie nominated for the top Cannes prize, the Palme d’Or, demand for Indian films in the marketplace is booming.

And the potential supply is massive. Eros alone has a library of 100,000 films and brings out 30 to 40 new films each year.

Jackie Chan said that he had a lovely and memorable trip

IKLAN

mallika-sherawat4573

The Hollywood action hero Jackie Chan responded to the allegations made against him during his recent visit to Chennai for the audio launch of Dasavatharam. A section of the media, had reported about Chan’s offensive behaviour, dismissing the Indian stars and not talking to anyone during his 24-hour visit. Jackie Chan through his official website www.jackiechan.com has clarified his position.

Oscar Ravichandran the producer of Dasavatharam clarified to Sify.com: “ I was very upset when I heard about the co-called reports on Internet about Chan’s visit. He made absolutely no fuss at the hotel and was totally cooperative. He obliged photographers and visitors who wanted to take photographs and had south Indian food for lunch, took a small nap and came back at 3 p.m. Later, he sat with Mallika Sherawat and worked on his speech, and took her help to get our Indian names right”

Ravi added: “He told me that he would need to know the questions in advance as he was not too comfortable speaking English. And at the airport, before he left he confessed about the love and admiration Indians had for him”.

Excerpts from Jackie’s website:

I have just returned from the most amazing and wonderful trip to Chennai, India, where I went to attend the audio launch of Oscar Films’ upcoming movie Dasavatharam. I should tell you that Oscar Films is responsible for distributing my films in India and has been doing this for over twenty years, since Battle Creek Brawl. It’s because of them that I’m so well known in India and they are very old friends of mine.

chanchennai300s

A few months ago, Mr. Ramesh Babu from Oscar Films and Mr. Vikram Lamba, brother of my Myth screen companion Mallika Sherawat, came to Hong Kong to personally invite me to this function. At the time, I looked at my schedule and winced. I was booked almost every day in April in Beijing, doing public service announcements and other events for the Olympics. How in the world would I fit in a trip to India? But I was so touched by their sincerity, and missed India so much (it’s been three years since The Myth) that I shifted things around so that I could squeeze in a very short trip.

As I told you, the purpose of the Chennai trip was to attend the music launch of Oscar Films’ latest production, Dasavatharam. In Indian films, the music is a very important part of the production, and these events are quite extravagant. The organizers had also added a fund-raising element to it, and I was there to present a check to the charity organizers.

Oscar Films was extremely generous in providing me with everything I could possibly need on this trip. Since I was only going to be in Chennai for about twenty-four hours, I didn’t think that anyone would know of my arrival and I was completely overwhelmed when I arrived at Chennai airport. So many fans and friends came to greet me, and it was at that moment I knew this would be the beginning of an amazing trip.

The premiere event was incredible. I saw so many friendly people, and so many famous faces! Many stars of Indian cinema were there and I recognized their faces, but I didn’t know how to pronounce their names (you know I’m much better with faces than with names). I was surprised and happy that so many people seemed to know me and wanted to talk to me. Oscar Films obviously did a great job promoting and distributing my previous films! I was really overwhelmed and I did my best to talk to as many people as possible. I hope I didn’t offend anyone by not giving them enough attention.

The movie, Dasavatharam, is truly a sight to behold. The story, directing, acting, camera work, special effects, everything about it is amazing. It really opened my eyes to modern Indian cinema. Of course I had seen Indian films before; I admire many of the actors, and really like the music and dancing. But this movie is really something else. Every element was amazing to me; and all the elements together just made a perfect and incredible movie! I won’t spoil anyone’s surprise by revealing the story now, since I think everyone should watch this movie. But I will say two things: watch for the environmental message, and all you directors in Hong Kong and China, watch this movie and start working harder than ever, because very soon now, Indian cinema will overtake us in the eyes of the international audience!

Because of my busy schedule, I had to leave Chennai the same night, after the event ended. I arrived in Beijing early the next morning and imagine my surprise when I was greeted with, “We heard it didn’t go too well; are you okay?” I honestly had no idea what everyone was talking about. I’d had such a thrilling and interesting trip and everything had gone quite smoothly.

When I saw some of the news reports on the Internet, I was extremely upset. One article accused me of ridiculous things like refusing to drink India’s bottled water - they said I brought my own imported mineral water - and of traveling with my own personal chefs because I refuse to eat Indian food. There were also reports of my so-called offensive behavior, dismissing the Indian stars and not talking to anyone. What complete nonsense! I have nothing but respect for Indian culture and Indian cinema, and even though I may not know all the stars by name or how to properly pronounce the names of the ones I do know, this has nothing to do with my admiration for them. And saying that I won’t eat Indian food! Nothing could be further from the truth; I adore Indian food, and in fact had two excellent meals on this trip and was so full I could barely leave my seat! To the reporters who wrote those offensive articles, I say this: You say I brought my own water. What brand did I bring? You can find out from the housekeepers at the hotel whether I did such a thing. You say I refused to eat Indian food. Do your research and talk to the three butlers the hotel assigned to my room and ask them what I ate! You say I holed up in my air-conditioned hotel room, ignoring my hosts. Why would I travel all the way to India and refuse to leave my hotel room?

I’ve been in the public eye for many years and I have put up with a lot of ridiculous things written about me. I very seldom lash out at anyone. But truly, these irresponsible “reporters” spoiled the memory of my trip, and I am so afraid that when my gracious and wonderful hosts read the lies, they may get the complete wrong impression of me and my feelings about them and about the event. Therefore, I am posting this message on my website immediately to set the record straight.

While I am on the topic of irresponsible journalism, some reporters recently asked me about my participation in the Olympic torch relay. I jokingly answered that no one had better try to come near me while I’m carrying the torch. I said it as a joke, and believe me, I made it quite clear that I was fooling around. I have tremendous faith in the security measures being taken. The next day there were news reports all over the world saying things like “Jackie Chan Threatens Olympic Protestors” and “Kung Fu Star Will Chop Down Protestors.” It seems that everywhere in the world there will be rotten apples that spoil the good ones in the barrel.

I hope this has cleared things up and that my gracious and generous Indian hosts and all of my fans and friends will be reassured that I had a lovely and memorable trip.
