Mahesh Bhatt’s son to play Suicide Bomber in Anurag Basus movie

Even though Mahesh Bhatt’s son is being investigated for being linked to terror suspect, David Coleman Headley, director Anurag Basu is on plans to launch him with the film, Suicide Bomber.

Basu has wanted to work on the film for very long since he loved working with the Bhatts on Murder and Gangster. But he got busy with Kites .

He also didn’t go ahead with a terrorism-based film, as the topic was very delicate then. But with the growing number of movies on terrorism now, like New York, etc. he has decided to get ready with Suicide Bomber.

Both Anurag Basu and Mahesh Bhatt have scripted Suicide Bomber.

Mahesh Bhatt is certain he wants Rahul to debut with Suicide Bomber only as he feels that it will help them to see the enemy’s point of view, which will put an end to terrorism.

Director N Chandra is approached the Anupam Kher for the particular role-Short time!

Director N. Chandra and actor Anupam Kher have rekindled their friendship of Tezaab-days with the film Yeh Mera India. It’s a social thriller that deals with several sensitive issues prevailing in modern India.

When N Chandra approached Anupam for the role, Anupam told him at the first place to narrate the film in five minutes and only then he will decide to go for the whole 50 minutes of narration. In five minute of narration N. Chandra convinced him to do the film. Apparently Anupam was so sure of the film that he did not feel the necessity to go for the rest 50 minutes of narration. “I agreed to do the film instantly because it dealt with humanity and I also believed in N Chandra that he will craft it beautifully,” he reasons.

Apart from Anupam Kher, it also stars Perizaad Zorabian, Purab Kohli, Rajpal Yadav, Smiley Suri, Rajit Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Seema Biswas, Milind Gunaji, and Sarika who are equally delighted to be part of Y.M.I.

Bollywood’s hyper B-grade movie

While Mohammad Ajmal Qasab’s trial is underway in Mumbai, our speed-driven Bollywood has already raced ahead with the verdict. In Surender Suri’s next film, titled Total Ten, Ajmal Qasab has already reached his end, one that Mumbai is eager to see, promises its producer. “We have had Qasab hanged at the end,” said Rajan Verma who plays Qasab.

The film, budgeted at a meagre Rs 3 crore, shows the ‘journey’ of Qasab and has all the characters in question. Sudesh Berry plays Vijay Salaskar, Homi Wadia plays Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kulkarni plays Ashok Kamte and Ashish Vidyarthi plays Tukaram Ombale.

The film also has a host of small-time actors playing Qasab’s Pakistani handlers while Aroon Bakshi plays Maulana Masood Azhar. “Every real-life detail has been followed in the film, beginning with their entering Mumbai by boat, surviving on dry fruits, carrying out their operations, etc,” says Verma.

The film has been shot in Mumbai and Pune, and outside the Taj Mahal hotel too. Much of it has been shot on actual locations, following the trail of disaster of 26/11. Verma said that initially he was scared to play Qasab, but was convinced by director Suri who told him the film gives out a strong message against terrorism.

While Total Ten is likely to be the first film to be released on the terror attack, it’s not the only one. Bollywood’s hyper B-grade movie industry is in the throes of churning out at least 15 films on the subject. As for the mainstream, most directors have stayed away after Ram Gopal Varma’s Taj visit fiasco which led to the ouster of then chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Maine Pyaar Kiya

In Ismail Merchant’s adaptation of Anita Desai’s novel, In Custody, Shashi Kapoor plays a disillusioned Urdu poet perturbed by the increasing modernisation around him. Playing upon the same are a bunch of sycophantic drink-buddies, more interested in the hospitality that follows than his actual creativity. Images of Kapoor weighed down by pigeons highlight the same.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Sharmila Tagore and Anupam Kher are paired together

Nilima is a student of Presidency College. Joymohan is a lecturer. They are in love but must separate for certain reasons and meet after 10 years during a morning walk in Shimla. They are now married to different people. They take a trip down memory lane only to separate again. Their paths cross one more time 27 years later, during a morning walk on the streets of Mumbai. During this last stroll, Joymohan begins to suspect that he is probably the biological father of Nilima's daughter.
For the first time, Sharmila Tagore and Anupam Kher are paired together in a film.

Others in the cast are Nargis Bagheri who made a mark in Priyadarshan's Garam Masala as Sharmila's daughter and model Shayan Munshi who plays her fiancé. Rajit Kapoor plays Anupam's son and Divya Dutta plays his wife. Soumili Biswas and Tanmoy Sengupta play the young versions of Nilima and Joymohan respectively. Suman Ranganathan and little Avika Gor who is playing the title role on Balika Vadhu on Colours, are also in the film.
Arup Dutta's directorial debut Morning Walk is a Hindi film being shot in Kolkata because the story is set in Kolkata and opens during the disturbing days of the Naxalite revolution. Arup Dutta honed his skills in filmmaking with episodes for Balaji Telefilms and other production houses in Mumbai. The Kolkata-based Cinemawallah that also produced Rituparno Ghosh's Utsab and Titli besides producing Anjan Dutt's Bow Barracks Forever is producing the film.
"Morning Walk explores the relationship between Joymohan and Nilima and the title is significant because the morning walks form the backbone of the film's narrative structure, each time functioning as a catharsis in the lives of the man and the woman as they grow older with time," explained Dutta who is shooting at Kumartuli, Victoria Memorial, the Kolkata Race Course and Dakshineswar. The sound track comprised of a thumri sung by Rashid Khan and Shreya Ghoshal, has already been canned.
