Reports claim that Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor have given the nod to the amibitious project to star alongside the perfectionist, Aamir Khan. According to the recent reports, Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions are the producers of the untitled film. This will be the first time, audiences will see Aamir, Rani and Kareena starring in the same film and it’s certainly a casting coup. Rani Mukerji has earlier worked with Aamir Khan in the smash-hit Ghulam and was even part of the historical Mangal Pandey -The Rising.
Meanwhile, Kareena was Aamir’s co-star in last year’s blockbuster 3 Idiots. Now with the trio coming together for this project, things are only going to get hotter in the days to come.

Bollywood’s most elegant in love couple Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were spotted at a Bandra, Mumbai cafe on Sunday June 28th evening.

Salman and Katrina arrived together at around 6pm. Both were looking extremely happy and it appeared as if they had arrived to celebrate the success of Katrina’s new release New York. She was smiling nonstop while talking to him. The people around them were left completely star struck and no one dared to disturb the lovers.”

The source further added, “When any one around would stare for long at Katrina, Salman would stare back at him/her. Generally the two used to be often seen at the coffee shops near Salman’s Bandra Bandstand house such as Café Coffee Day or Barista but may be they came here because being a Sunday those places would have been extremely crowded.”

Aamir Khan experienced an ant attack in his own bed

Recently the actor - director Aamir Khan experienced an ant attack in his own bed! Surprised? Well the perfectionist actor back on his blog after a long hiatus has shared his real life nightmarish experience to his fans.

Aamir says, “Few days ago I had a very bad night. After a long day at work, went to bed at around 3am. Couple hours later, deep in sleep I had this vague feeling of being bitten on my ear.

Gradually I was being bitten on my stomach, legs, neck. I was so sleepy that I just kept cursing, scratching, turning and tossing. Finally it got really unbearable, and I kind of woke up…… TO SEE MY BED FILLED WITH ANTS!

There were hundreds of them! Crawling all over and giving me hell. I’m feeling scratchy all over just recounting it. Had to jump under the shower and then went and crashed on my couch. Can’t figure out for the life of me how they got there and why?

I guess they found something really sweet on that bed, and since K (wife Kiran) was out on a night shoot I am assuming it was me. Isn’t it amazing how ants find their way to the most unlikely of places.”

Bollywood filmmakers have of late begun looking at books and literature to take inspiration for stories

3 Idiot

The Booker used to be the most exciting publishing moment but now you have Salman Khan playing Chetan Bhagat, which is a cooler thing, says the author of bestsellers ’Five Point Someone’ and ’One Night at a Call Centre’.

Bollywood filmmakers have of late begun looking at books and literature to take inspiration for stories.

"It is exciting that modern Indian stories are finding a place in bookstores and even doing well. We are no longer writing for western audiences," says Bhagat.

Chetan hit the bull’s eye through his first novel ’Five Point Someone’ which is a story of three IIT students who are unable to cope with the pressures of life. Now Munnabhai fame director Rajkumar Hirani is making 3 Idiots on this with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead.

While Salman starrer Hello is based on ’One Night at a Call Centre’ and slated for release on 10th October.

Bhagat thinks that Bollywood is an ideal platform to reach the Hindi readers.

"For me Hindi readers are as classy as the English readers. Hindi is my country’s language and if I don’t reach the Hindi readers, I can not call myself an Indian writer. Bollywood is also an effort in the same direction. Don’t forget I wrote the script of ’Hello’ in Hindi," says Chetan.

"I believe the hand of God is on me. My destiny is being shaped up by higher powers. Forget superstars, I had no idea my stories will ever become films," says the IIT and IIM scholar.

A friend had seen Imran at Aamir Khan Productions

IKLAN

kidnap movie

To be released this Id on Wednesday, 1st October, ‘Kidnap’ is out to set another milestone for budding actor Imran Khan. The character Imran plays in the film is a far cry from his role in ‘Jaane Tu…’. The film has Imran playing a kidnapper and instead of hush-hush romance between the hero and the heroine, it essentially traces the complex relation between a kidnapper and his victim.

Imraan and Minissha displayed great chemistry on-screen and off-screen. The duo got along like a house on fire from the first day of the shoot. For one shot of the film, Imran suggested that he practice a knife stunt with Minissha before the actual shoot. Minissha readily agreed and even bruised her fingers with the knife while rehearsing. The efforts paid and resulted in a bone-chilling take in the end. Later, Minissha kept chiding Imran about her injury saying that he hurt her only to avenge his loss in a card game they played on the sets!

Commenting on how the sensational newcomer of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan, got signed up for the project, writer Shivani Bhathija reveals exclusively, “A friend had seen Imran at Aamir Khan Productions’ office and said he looked interesting. ‘Interesting’ is what we needed for Kabir so I mentioned his name to Sanjay (Gadhvi). Sanjay saw Imran and called me immediately to say that we had found Kabir.”

Elaborating on her first reaction on seeing Imran, Bathija adds, “I met Imran first at his house when Sanjay (Gadhvi) and I went to give him a narration. He was exactly what I had in mind when I wrote the character of Kabir four years before setting eyes on him. Kidnap was destined for Imran.”

Remarks director Sanjay Gadhvi, “I am proud of Shibani because she wrote the script of Kidnap even before she worked on Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Fanaa. This is really one of her initial scripts. It so happened that these films released before and we started making Kidnap only last year. As for Imran, I signed him much before the release of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. So when the latter became a hit and everyone went gaga over Imran, I said this is just the beginning….wait till you see him in Kidnap!”

Aamir immediately called up Imran and advised him to refrain from the risky

Aamir Khan has been a real good Mamu. Recently, during the shooting of Imran’s forthcoming ‘Kidnap’, an incident further showed the strong relationship the duo share.

‘Kidnap’ required a stunt scene, which involved jumping off from the 20th floor of a building. Sanjay Dutt, who is Imran’s co-star in the film was observing the stunt from below, which he thought would be done by a body double. But, to his immense surprise, Baba spotted the body double on the ground beside him, while Imran was up there, ready for the stunt.

Hot-blooded Imran was bent upon proving that, like Akshay Kumar, he can manage his own stunts. But experienced actor Sanjay saw danger in it. He directly called up mamu to stop his charge from taking the dangerous step. Aamir immediately called up Imran and advised him to refrain from the risky stunt at such an early stage in his career. This made Imran relent, and he agreed to let his body double perform the stunt.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has many reasons to look forward to her birthday Sep 21 - one of them being shooting with Aamir Khan, her favourite actor.

“On my birthday I will be shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Three Idiots’ in Ladakh. And the best part is that I will be shooting with my favourite actor, Aamir Khan,” Kareena told IANS Saturday.

Whether the actress will be sparing some time to be with fellow actor and beau Saif Ali Khan in the midst of her busy schedule is unknown, as she remained tight-lipped about her personal life.

“My personal life is personal,” she said.

When asked whether she is irritated with the media frenzy surrounding her relationship with Saif, Kareena said: “I am not irritated. But these things are personal. You guys (media) keeps hovering around us and keep taking pictures wherever we go.”

Kareena, whose latest film “Tashan” was not well received by audiences, seemed upbeat about her forthcoming animation film with Saif titled “Roadside Romeo”.

Actors have a different physiology and mindset-Mahesh Bhatt

IKLAN

Director Mahesh Bhatt

Mahesh Bhatt (Interview)

You’re a talk-show host in Balaji’s C Kkompany . How did you opt to face the camera?

It was no earth shattering decision, but a spontaneous one. It was when a new director, Sachin Yardi approached me… He was a little hesitant at first, but his endearing nature and warmth made me agree. He told me that he needed me to play a talk show host, the character needed to have that extra sheen…

How was the experience?

I really wouldn’t have opted to do something like this, because to begin with, I have no time, second, I don’t have the discipline to memorise lines. I thought it would be painful, but it was quite pleasant.

You’d do a cameo again?

I’ve done it this one time for C Kkompany. I doubt I’d do it again! I’ve been in this line for a long time now, long enough to realise that Actors have a different physiology and mindset. They are made up of different stuff. And I just don’t have that.

But you’d make a good talk-show host, don’t you think?

It has become a fiasco! Everyone is into the business of myth-making, what I’d be interested in is demystification. It’s very rare that you come across conversations of great substance and meaning. If I were to be a talk-show host, mine would be more of a ‘say it as you live’ show. I want a show without make-up, but everybody is scared to disclose their foibles and frailties to the world.

The one person you’d like to have as guest on your show…?

Laloo Prasad Yadav! He’s a successful politician and the only Indian who is unafraid to reveal what he is really all about. He has an authentic air about him and brings with him the fragrance of the soil.

The one question you’d ask the following celebrities on your ‘supposed’ talk show:

Amitabh Bachchan : How can you be a participant in your own mythmaking?
Shah Rukh Khan : How does it feel to be Shah Rukh Khan in this lifetime?
Kareena Kapoor : How did it feel when the chips were down?
Aishwarya Rai : How do you carry the burden of beauty?
Salman Khan: Why don’t you live more dangerously?

‘Kidnap’ makes for compelling viewing as the big festival

Imran Khan , who made his debut with the romantic Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na , is all set to shed his chocolate hero image for Kidnap. Yes, Imran plays a negative role in ‘Kidnap’ that is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi , who has directed Dhoom and Dhoom 2 . ‘Kidnap’ is a high-octane edge-of-the-seat drama about a power tussle between a young boy and the father of the girl he kidnaps.’Kidnap’ also stars Sanjay Dutt , Minissha Lamba , Vidya Malvade and Rahul Dev .

The story of the film goes like this: Sonia (Minissha) lives with her mother, Mallika (Vidya) and grandmother because her parents divorced when she was ten. A week before her eighteenth birthday celebration, she gets kidnapped. The abductor, Kabir (Imran) is interested in speaking only to her father, Vikrant Raina (Dutt), an affluent New York-based Indian businessman, with whom he has an old score to settle.

The credit of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’s box office success to a large extent definitely goes to Aamir Khan and there is no single doubt about that. The aggressive manner in which Aamir pitched it across the media all over and the hype it generated thanks to his omnipresence in all the film related events undeniably helped the film achieve greater success. Now Aamir extending his Maamujaan part further is making sure he doesn’t end up making the same mistakes that he had done after the stupendous success of his debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Aamir had signed up a whole lot of nonsensical films which had ended up turning turkeys at the box office. He wants Imraan to learn from his mistakes.

Sources tell us, “A few big banners approached Imraan in the last few weeks but he turned them all down one by one and now we have found out why! One big shot corporate had approached Imraan with a tempting offer just as the signing amount, but the young newcomer declined it there and then since no script was offered along with. Any script offered to Imraan first goes to Aamir. After weighing the various pros and cons of the offered project, Aamir then has a meeting with Imraan. In this meeting he puts forth his points and leaves it up to his nephew whether he should accept the film or not. Now who will dare to challenge to The super judgement of Aamir Khan who has not taken a single wrong step in last few years when it comes to choices of films.”

“Imraan is not finding it dominating but considers himself lucky that he has got a great mentor in his Maamujaan.” the source concludes.

Imraan’s next release is Sanjay Gadhvi’s Kidnap slated for a October 2nd release date.

Much much before the movie is released, people can predict that Ghajini is definitely going to be a good movie. The first reason being - Aamir Khan chose to do the movie, the second reason - Aamir Khan’s Ghajini cut has created waves throughout the nation and the third reason is that the movie is the remake of a superhit Tamil film.

It is borrowed heavily from Christopher Nolan’s classic Memento, but as per the Tamil version it will be appropriately Indianized. It is a story about a big businessman (Aamir) who falls in love with a model (Debutante Asin). Both the protagonists work for the cause of poor but end up in trouble when Asin exposes the women trafficking racket in Mumbai. In a retaliatory attack by the pimps Asin gets killed.

Aamir tries to rescue but he gets real bad head injuries that he suffers a heavy memory loss. So bad that he remembers things only for a short span. Aamir is determined to seek revenge and is assisted by a medical student (Jiah Khan) in his endeavors.

It would be really amazing to see Aamir perform the role of a amnesiac who is determined to take revenge and stop female trafficking. Aamir is the kind of actor who will pay attention to even the minutest expression of his character.

Cant wait to watch this movie.

Ramu says The famous controversy between me and Aamir happened 6 to 7 months after Rangeela released

IKLAN

Aamir

Why Aamir Khan dislikes Ramu. Ram Gopal Varma and Aamir Khan had worked together only in Rangeela (1995) which was a super duper success at the box office but despite that they never worked with each other.

There was a verbal war of words that had ensued between the two just a few months after its release following which they were considered arch enemies in the industry till date.

But almost 13 years later, Ram Gopal Varma has come out with the disclosure of what actually happened and how senior journalist cum film critic turned filmmaker, Khalid Mohammed is responsible for it all.

Ramu in his personal blog has stated, “The famous controversy between me and Aamir happened 6 to 7 months after Rangeela released.

Khalid Mohammed (he was then the editor of FILMFARE magazine) was doing an interview with me in which I was giving an explanation that the audience can rarely understand the difference between a character and an actor. I cited the scene in Rangeela when Aamir takes Urmila to restaurant.

Now the waiter being a Five Star Hotel steward is higher in social status than Munna but being a waiter he has no choice but to serve him. But on a human being level he can barely hide his disgust hearing Munna’s lines.

So I told Khalid that the lines are being delivered by Aamir but the look on the waiter’s face is what is making the audience laugh. So it calls for more complex acting on the waiter’s part compared to Aamir in that particular scene.

Khalid who apparently had a personal axe to grind with Aamir went ahead and printed this article which read like as if I said “The waiter was better than Aamir”.

By the time the article came out I was off on a Telugu film shoot in interior Andhra Pradesh.

Aamir tried to contact me and those days there were no cell phones. The fact that I was not getting in touch with him and him not knowing where I was, he thought I was avoiding him and as the media was hounding him to react he went ahead and reacted and the media blew up the thing into a full scale war.

The moment I realized what happened I met Aamir and explained it to him. He wanted me to give a statement in print against Khalid that I was misquoted to which I said I can’t because all those things I did say, it’s just that it’s too technical for a layman at that time to understand and I should not have spoken to a man like Khalid about that and that was a mistake.

Some cold vibes still remained with good reason till years later we met at a party and had a long chat and since then we are cordial. So whatever happened between me and Aamir was completely 100% my fault and I am saying this now here because I was not trusting any journalist to put it across in the correct perspective.”

But now if you fans of Ramu Aamir - Rangeela have started jumping with joy that the two shall get back together to create yet another memorable film you are in for a disappointment as Ramu further writes, “Before some minds out there jump to this conclusion that this is an effort on my part to patch up with him in order to do a film with him I want to categorically state here that I will never ever do a film with him and the reasons for that are:

(a). I am not as sincere or as committed as him.
(b). I don’t have his patience.
(c). Above all I truly think he is a far better filmmaker than me.”

Imran plays a troubled guy who kidnaps Dutt’s daughter in the film

IKLAN

Imran Khan’s got guts. From his much-appreciated college boy debut in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, he’s playing a character with grey shades in his second film Kidnap directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. “That’s what excited me about this role,” admitted Imran from South Africa where he’s shooting for Luck, “When I read the script, I realised that the character is so drastically different from the first one, that I would be a fool to let it go.”

But isn’t he apprehensive about audience rejection? “You can’t second guess the audience. You have to make your own creative decisions,” said Imran, sounding like a pro in the business already. He denied that Sanjay Dutt was unhappy about Kidnap’s shooting getting delayed because of Jaane Tu... “There’s no truth in it at all. I had finished shooting for Jaane Tu... and then started shooting for Kidnap. It’s also not true that Kidnap was supposed to be my debut film; this film did not even exist when I started doing Jaane...”

Imran plays a troubled guy who kidnaps Dutt’s daughter in the film. “He’s a mysterious guy who’s angry because of something. But he’s very tenacious, too. He has a plan in mind and he’s very focussed about it,” the young star revealed.
He shares a number of scenes with Dutt. “In the first one, I had to act tough with him!” laughed Imran, “I was nervous and kept fumbling my lines. So I apologised to him. He reacted by giving me a hug and telling me to chill. After that, I gave all shots right!”

In a first of its kind deal, Walt Disney has bought home video rights of Taare Zameen Par for the North American market.

This is the first time an international studio has bought the video rights of an Indian film!

Disney, which inked the deal with UTV Motion Pictures that holds the overseas rights of the Aamir Khan starrer, paid Rs 7 crore for the video rights.

“Disney as a brand has association with family and children. They have seen Taare Zameen Par as content that has a brand fit. Also, the film is being seen as one of the classics of recent times. Despite it not being a conventional NRI fare, the film has done very well in the overseas market, especially in North America,” said Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV Motion Pictures.

Taare Zameen Par was released in December 2007 and became a critical as well as commercial success. The film, starring Darsheel Safary and Aamir Khan, was hailed for its sensitivity and it grossed in the range of Rs 100 crore worldwide.

Disney had earlier entered into a co-production tie-up with Yash Raj Films to produce the animation venture, Roadside Romeo.

Sony has entered into a three-film co-production deal with PNC, Indian Films obtained official remake rights of Italian Job and Warner Bros is producing Akshay Kumar starrer Chandni Chowk To China.

By Fakir Hassen, Johannesburg, July 18: Indian music, dance, food and more will be on offer in South Africa as part of the “Shared Histories Festival” beginning next month that hopes to reach out not only to the diaspora but also to others. The band Indian Ocean, a performance by violin virtuoso L. Subramaniam, a retrospective of Aamir Khan’s films and a Goan food festival will delight India enthusiasts in South Africa as part of the six-week long event.

The festival, celebrating India’s special relationship with South Africa, was first introduced last year and was linked to the Johannesburg Arts Festival.

“It has also been absolutely amazing to see the support from local art and culture organisations and individuals as the festival more than doubles its activities and takes it across the country,” Indian Consul General Navdeep Suri told IANS.

While the Johannesburg link will continue this year, events are also to be staged in Durban, where the majority of South Africa’s 1.2 million citizens of Indian origin live, as well as in Cape Town to a limited extent.

Suri, who spearheaded the concept last year, said the focus was not on taking Indian arts and culture to only the diaspora but also to other South Africans who are taking to it in a big way as Bollywood strikes a chord and Indian cuisine finds favour.
Leading corporates from both sides of the Indian Ocean have lent support to the festival, with the Tata Group, which has developed a strong presence in South Africa since the advent of democracy in 1994, as the headline sponsor.

Many South Africans will get their first whiff of feni, Goa’s favoured drink, as the Goan Food Festival kicks off Aug 23 at the renowned restaurant Beverley Hills on the Durban coastline and then continues at the equally renowned Le Canard here in September.
Bollywood fans will get a double treat - a musical titled “Bollywood Love Story” directed by Sanjoy Roy and choreographed by Gilles Chuen; while the Numetro cinema chain will show a dozen films starring Aamir Khan at its theatres across the country, from his debut in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” to his latest, the award-winning “Taare Zameen Par”.

Dance enthusiasts will be able to revel in the steps of the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company’s “Uncharted Seas”, as well “Gayatri”, a performance by the Janak Khendry Dance Company of Canada in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts.

“Words on Water” will see a score of South African and Indian writers engaging in conversation, led by local Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer.
L. Subramaniam will perform with the Durban Philharmonic Orchestra in the “Concert for Freedom” to mark Gandhi Jayanti Oct 2.
A different kind of music will be heard when the group Indian Ocean stages a concert in the sprawling African township of Soweto, as part of attempts to take the fast evolving Indian culture to different communities.

There will also be exhibitions of art, textiles and photographs and a “Doing Business with India Conference” that will run in tandem with the festival, to be hosted from Aug 23 to Oct 5.

"Kiran Rao is always there for everyone around whenever there is a crisis

IKLAN

Aamir Khan Productions’ next release Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na is already generating a lot of curiosity with each passing day. While the promos are rocking big time, we bring you yet another interesting piece of information on the film.

While it’s a known fact that Aamir Khan has been actively involved with this project, even wifey Kiran Rao has played a big part in the making of the film. Every time there is a crisis, Aamir Khan and friends of Kiran Rao, remember only one person and that’s Kiran Rao. When Aamir Khan took over the reins of Taare Zameen Par as director, Kiran Rao was there at each and every moment, helping him out as an assistant.

Even during Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, it was Kiran who came to Abbas Tyrewala’s rescue, when one of his assistant directors fell sick during shooting. Confirms a source from Aamir Khan Productions, "Kiran Rao is always there for everyone around whenever there is a crisis. She is an angel who steps in to help everyone around. She had stepped forward to help Aamir and his team, on Taare Zameen Par and now extended
her support even for Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na. It so happened that Abbas and gang were shooting in Mumbai when the first assistant director fell seriously sick in middle of shoot. So, Abbas in panic made calls to all his friends to check if someone could step in to help. First assistant director is integral to the shoot and without that person it is quite impossible to shoot. When Kiran Rao heard of this, she called up Abbas and said that she would join him immediately. She is truly an angel who steps in to help everyone around"

It may be recalled that Kiran had even flown to Jaipur to help Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra during the shooting of Dilli 6 when one of his A.D.’s had to rush home. Seems like Kiran indeed believes in the saying ’A friend in need is a friend indeed’.
